Callista Ming

Inspiration: I have a confession to make: I don’t know very much about Callista.  Tom and I had tickets for the midnight premier of Revenge of the Sith, the final Star Wars movie, and we wanted to dress up for the occasion.  I would have loved to do a female Jedi such as Shaak Ti or Aayla Secura, but there wasn’t time for that kind of prosthetics or body make-up.  Instead I stumbled across Callista Ming from the extended universe, a human female Jedi who wielded a yellow lightsaber and played an important role in Luke Skywalker’s life.

Materials/Construction Details: I loosely based my outfit on the reference image shown, along with other images and descriptions I found across the internet.  The top, skirt, and boots were all found at Good Will.  The skirt was cut and modified drastically to give it its unique cut.  The gauntlets and choker were made out of silver vinyl.  I cut off the top of a pair of stockings for the garter and added the black belt as a final touch.  Clipped to the belt was a cutout dolphin with silver ribbon that represented her affiliation with water creatures.

Wig:  No wig for this one!  I simply pulled my own hair back into a pony tail.  It was really long back then apparently.

Prop:  My prop was one of those plastic collapsing lightsabers modified so that the light shown yellow.
