In case you were wondering, my alias Yashuntafun comes from the name of the road I grew up on. It’s a weird name, I know, but I’ve had to spell it out for people from as early as I can remember and its uniqueness has stuck with me. Luckily it’s pronounced exactly as it looks: Ya-shun-ta-fun. So now that you’ve had that little lesson, I’ll tell you a little more about myself.
I got into cosplay back in 2003 when I went to my first anime con, Anime Weekend Atlanta. Without the slightest clue how to use a sewing machine, my husband and I managed to put together costumes from Soul Calibur II using mainly an iron and hot glue. They weren’t the greatest costumes, but we received a warm reception none-the-less and the general energy I felt while at my first con got me hooked. I have been sewing ever since, slowly gaining new skills, and as my friends like to say, leveling up. I still have a lot to learn, but I try to push myself with each new costume.
I am a big cat person. I have pictures of my room growing up where every inch is covered in some type of tacky cat poster or stuffed animal. These days I just stick to the real thing. I have four cats of my own that I adore. If you ask me about them I will talk your ears off and shower you with pictures…you’ve been warned.
But other than cats and cosplay, I like reading fantasy novels, playing JRPGS, going to midnight movie premiers, traveling (when I get the chance), and just spending time with friends. If you have any questions or comments for me, please feel free to email me at yashuntafun@gmail.com and I will get back to you as soon as possible!
On April 23rd, 2011 my best friend passed away. Mango was 16 and had been a part of my life ever since he was a tiny kitten. He was always interested in my costumes, even if that meant laying on them and getting his long orange hair everywhere, and he even came with me to several conventions. He will continue to be my inspiration and will forever be missed.

Please also check out Kamikaze Kiss Cosplay, a cosplay group made up of Samu-Chan, Meru, and myself. Our group was formed in 2009 and since I moved up to Atlanta in 2010 we’ve been able to work on a lot more costumes together, including our Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne costumes that won best in show at AWA in 2010.
