Makoto Niijima
Persona 5
Inspiration: Persona 5 was a super addictive gave with its catchy music and flashy menus. It’s easily my favorite Persona game to date and I knew while playing through it that I had to cosplay from it! Makoto’s character really resonated with me and when I saw her laughable attempts at stealth, I knew she was the character for me!
Materials/Construction Details: The vest is made from black stretch sateen. I installed gold studs along the front, but the vest actually closes with a series of hidden hook and eyes.
The skirt fabric was designed by the amazing Luluko, and can be purchased from Spoonflower here: https://t.co/3uopP8TDkm Once my fabric came in the mail, it was just a matter of making a pleated skirt. The skirt is lined in black cotton.
The turtleneck, boots, and black leggings were all purchased as they are.
Wig: This wig was purchased from a store in China as a Makoto wig, so it already included the braid. I used a razor to make the bangs a bit more choppy and less straight across. I also used a blow dryer to heat-form the wig more to my liking.
Props: The magazine Makoto hides behind when stalking the protagonist appeared to be modeled after a volume of Shonen Jump. I purchased an old issue off ebay that I thought resembled the one she carried the most. It was fun poorly hiding from all the other Persona cosplayers at the convention!
