Double Dragon Neon

Inspiration: Double Dragon is a classic, but the remake of the game they did last year was hilarious! I had a lot of fun playing it, which is why I was so happy when I found out that Tom and Adam were going to be Billy and Jimmy!

Materials/Construction Details: This was a relatively easy costume to make. I got a thick red knit material from the fabric store and made a simple dress. The leather jacket was purchased from a thrift store and I shortened the length and the sleeves. The belt was made from scratch using black vinyl, large 1″ pyramid studs, and worbla, which I shaped the belt buckle out of. I also made the earrings out of worbla.

Wig: The wigs are where I had the most fun. I styled the wigs for all three of these costumes. Billy and Jimmy are wearing Hansel wigs from Arda. To get the upswept hair in the front, I actually mounted the wigs on a wig head in such a way that the wig hung upside down. I then used a hair dryer to heat it up and spray it in place. Once I flipped the wigs right side up, the hair in the front stayed in place and I just had to fix it up a little. I combed the hair on the sides back and sprayed those in place as well. Then I used small curlers at the back base of the wigs to make the little curl at the back of the neck.

I purchased my wig on ebay. I cut about 3 inches off and added a few layers. Then I had fun with curlers and my hair dryer until I achieved the big 80s style I was hoping for.
