Satan/Wrath
Umineko no Naku Koro ni
Inspiration: Making a cosplay group of the seven stakes from Umineko was an idea that Meru came up with. I was happy to be a part of it because I think the costumes are really cute! Though I wouldn’t consider wrathful an appropriate description of me, I actually had a bunch of fun being her and making angry faces!
Materials/Construction Details: Where to begin? The jacket and vest were made out of a red suiting. The jacket was a bit of a challenge since I had never worked with a pattern that called for lapels or sleeves with the button slit, but I’m really happy with how it turned out and my newly gained experience. I made the ruffles on the sleeves using left over black suiting from the skirt. The patches were made for us all by the very talented Jessie Pridemore.
The skirt was where the real fun started. It’s made up of four layers, which are all supported by heavy duty interfacing to help them stick out. The white skirts are satin, backed with some fusible interfacing. The scallops were then cut out using a soldering iron. This was a new technique for me, but it worked amazing and is a great way to cut out small designs while not having to worry about the edges fraying. The icon on the side was cut out of gold satin and appliqued in place. The skirt snapped into place on the leotard.
Wig: I bought a Claudia wig from Arda Wigs in Ash Blonde. I loved the ringlets, but the original style was too long, so I had to cut off quite a bit of length. I also had to cut the bangs in.
