Nami ~ Goku Outfit
One Piece x Dragonball Z Crossover Figure

Inspiration: My friend Envel showed me these figures of Nami dressed as Goku and Bulma dressed as Luffy and I thought it was a really cute idea and design. I was running low on time before Momocon and was looking for a costume that I could make rather quickly and these ended up being perfect!

Materials/Construction Details: The dress is made out of a cotton knit, which was hand dyed the appropriate orange. The blue pieces are also made out of a cotton knit. To make the wrist and waist bands, I cut out long, thin strips of the blue knit, sewed them together into tubes, flipped them inside out, and then ironed them flat. I made the strips long enough to wrap around at least three times for the layered look. The boots were a pair or shoes I got from a thrift shop. I painted the bottom and heel red and then made boot covers out of the blue knit. The red stripes are made with bias tape and the bows are made out of braided cord from the fabric store.

Wig: This was my second Nami costume, so I already had an orange wig to use.

Props: The power pole on her back was made out of a poster postage tube and cardboard add on pieces all painted red. I had to learn a couple fancy knots to complete it with the braided cord. I also made the dragon balls. I found some clear rubber balls with orange glitter inside at the toy store. I then stained the outside of the rubber using orange rit dye following the stove top instruction, keeping the water warm, but not too hot to melt the rubber. The rubber took to the dye suprisingly well. I finished the balls off with red glitter stars.
