Doreah
Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire
Inspiration: I wanted to do a Game of Thrones character for Dragon*Con since the show premiered this spring, but I wasn’t sure who to be. After talking it over with the fabulous Yaya Han, I decided to be the handmaiden Doreah for her Daenerys. It was so much fun cosplaying with her and everyone else in our Thrones group! I’m already planning a Ygritte costume for next year and can’t wait to see what she’ll look like in the show!
Materials/Construction Details: For this costume I looked for rugged textured brown fabrics and found what I thought was perfect for her top in the remnants section of JoAnn’s. Once I had it sewn together, I used sandpaper and scissors to fray up the edges and added various trims and fringe to add detail. I used gauze for the hand wraps and arm band and wooden beads for accents.
The pin on her front was originally made out of craft foam, but then a friend made a cast of it for me so that it was more solid. It was painted silver and then weathered with black paint.
Wig: I bought this slightly layered brown wig on ebay and then braided it and styled it.
